About Me
Rooted in the heart of San Francisco, Plates 2 Planters is the creative evolution of the founder Erik Martinez. Drawing on a lifetime of expertise in automotive repair and metal fabrication honed in the Mission District, Erik transforms license plates into unique, handcrafted homes for greenery. What began during the pandemic as a heartfelt gift for his daughter - a custom folded planter designed to bring a piece of home to her college room, has blossomed into a local art venture. Every planter blends industrial grit with natural beauty, carrying forward a legacy of craftmanship and family connection.
My Mission
My mission is to spread admiration and appreciation for the arts by giving a simple object, such as a piece of metal, another look and another purpose.
My Vision
My vision began with creating a product that would give people a sense of home, a reminder of where they came from by creating planters from recycled license plates of different U.S. states and beyond.
